Thursday's doctor visit
I went to the doctor's office on Thursday for my blood pressure and urine protein check. Our neighbor, Tonya, from across the street insisted on driving me because I had a headache for more than 24 hours and was concerned my blood pressure was high. I thought I was okay to drive and that my headache was managable. I used to suffer from migraines and I knew this wasn't one, but she convinced me that this was a fun friends catching up outing and we were to go to lunch afterwards. Well, we didn't get to go to lunch because Tonya was right. My blood pressure was high and my protein showed +2 in the doctor's office. I layed down on my side in the doctor's office and it still didn't go down very much, so they sent me to triage on the OB floor of the hospital. I was a little afraid that they would induce me so Jody met us and we went to the hospital. Initally my blood pressure was high at the hospital, but the nurse discovered the trick for my blood pressure to go back to normal was for me to lay on one side or the other. The nurse thought that the doctor would probably put me on bed rest and not in the hospital. Tonya was waiting to see what was going to happen and Jody went out and told her, so she left to be home when her kids got out of school. I'm glad Tonya convinced me to let her drive me now. In total we spent about 3 hours in triage before they released me to bed rest on my side. I have another doctor's appointment on Monday and an ultrasound to see about the baby's kidneys. My regular doctor will be back in town. Yea! I'm writing this on Jody's laptop laying on our sofa and this bedrest thing is so hard, but I know it won't be long now so it makes it more bearable. The next day Tonya brought over a movie and a couple of magazines and kept me company for a little while. She also made us a delicious dinner. She is a really sweet person and we are blessed to have her as a friend and neighbor. God brings you just what you need when you need it! :) I'm going to try to go into the office on Monday prepared to be induced early. If my blood pressure is worrisome, I'm thinking she may want to induce. This may or may not be my last blog before our sweet baby comes! Wow!
